My journey.

Rahima R. Rice was born, raised and educated in Washington, D.C. She holds a BA in Mass Media: Film & TV Production from the University of the District of Columbia. Rahima's post-graduate production experience includes work on The Hispanic Heritage Awards, Psychic Detectives and the DC Independent Film Festival. She served as the Film Events Coordinator through UDC's Media Relations division, creating Screen Justice, a screening and panel discussion event sponsored by UDC's David A. Clarke School of Law, and The DC Meets Delhi Film & Arts Festival.

In 2009 Rahima founded the stage performance company DC’s Own Entertainment Group. During the company's run Rahima wrote, produced and directed the plays The Airport Piece (Winner, Best One-Act Drama, DC Black Theatre Festival 2010), DCPS, and A Mood for Ms. Eunice (Main Stage Feature, DC Black Theatre Festival 2012).

In 2012 DC’s Own Entertainment Group ended its run, as Rahima decided to explore more visual storytelling through her new company, The 4208 Group. In 2014, Rahima wrote, produced and directed the short film, Mime, which screened at the 2014 Reel Independent Film Extravaganza. In 2015 Rahima produced and hosted the Write Tea podcast, enjoying two successful seasons of showcasing D.C.'s writing community. That same year Rahima produced and directed the first episode of the visual artist docu-series A 3 Star Movement. And in 2017 Rahima premiered her highly anticipated web series, Room 513.

Her most recent work includes the short film Making & Breaking (People’s Choice Award Winner, 2020 OLA Film Festival), the one-act play The Eight (2018 Anacostia Playhouse Visions/Revisions New Works Festival, 2020 Affirmation Theatre Company Pro-Black One Acts Festival) and the full length play At the Full Yum (2019-2020 SigWorks Reading Series). Her articles and personal essays have been published in LEVEL Magazine, The Daring, Looper, and Living Corporate.

Rahima holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media from the University of the District of Columbia, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing for the Stage & Screen from Lesley University. Rahima is the founder of the DC-based arts & entertainment company The 4208 Group, and curator of the 10-minute play festival The 10-Minute Taste

What People Are Saying

Rahima is a woman of many hats, she never ceases to amaze me. I had the honor of being in one of her projects in my earlier stages of acting and I gained so much knowledge during that time. She's very humble, professional and dedicated to the craft. In my book she's a warrior and you don't meet too many people like her too often.

— Luviee Lenore, actress, model

Working with Rahima is wonderful! I'm always so impressed by her creativity, professionalism, and execution of ideas. I've been fortunate to be an actor in a few of her projects. I love working with her and can't wait to work with her on future projects!

— Victoria Njideka, actress, director

Rahima is an honest intentional witness, encapsulating the dynamics of human connection.

— Rashad Dobbins, musician

This was a really cool class! My son learned a lot about the process of developing characters and stories. He felt like it was a mature conversation, which he liked. Rahima also chose fun movies for them to watch as homework!
